NVMUG, the Northern Vermont Macintosh Users Group welcomes you to our web site. We hope you will join our group. There are no dues, only benefits.

NVMUG is located in St. Johnsbury in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. It serves northern Vermont and bordering areas in New Hampshire and Quebec.

Its purpose is to share information to help learn more about using Macintosh computers and related subjects including digital photography.

We meet almost every month usually on the second Saturday at the Northern Vermont Regional Hospital room 224 unless otherwise notified. WiFi available. Click on Where for Directions to the Meeting.

The next meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday July 11 in room 224 at NVRH. We sometimes decide not to meet in either July or August because of all the other summer activities in Vermont. We surveyed our members via email and emailed these results to our members:

The votes are in concerning whether we should meet in July, or August, or both. Unlike some other votes, we did not count more returns from any part of the Northeast Kingdom than there were members. 

All of the returns were received within one day of the survey, but we waited to be sure all of the returns were in before we counted them.

Results of the survey were not even close. They were unanimous.  One hundred percent of the returns said,

"Hartley I can't always go to the meetings but I wouldn't mind both July and Aug.  I can understand if folks would rather have the summer off.    I am easy either way,"

Based upon these results we are planning on meetings on Saturday July 11 and Saturday August 8 in room 224 at NVRH. I hope to see you at the meetings.

If we should have to cancel or change the date of either of these meetings, we will send email announcements and post them here.

We mail a meeting reminder, usually on Wednesday evening before the meetings, to all of our members.

We email an NVMUG eNewsletter every month after the meeting to report the news and provide information of interest our members can use.

We almost cancelled the June 13 meeting because of the small turnout, but it turned into a very nice little meeting. I am sorry that I forgot to take pictures. Katherine Farber won the iPod Shuffle. You can read about it here. and about other meetings in the eNews

We raffle books at most meetings, but ask that people enter the raffle only if they are interested in a book that is being raffled. Earnings from the raffle are donated to the Northern Vermont Regional Hospital. "The Photoshop CS4 Companion for Photographers" from O'Reilly and "Do Good Design" from Peachpit were raffled at the April meeting.

Reviews of books are posted under Reviews. On April 23, 2009, we added a new review based upon the pre-release Rough Cuts, iWork 09 The Missing Manual by Josh Clark pulished by Pogue Press/O'reilly.
