"To the Hon: the judges of the Orphans Court of York County.
The petition of William McCandless executor of the last will and testament of Peter Schriver late of said County deceased respectfully represents that said decedent lately died having made his last will and testament in writing which was duly proved and recorded in the Registers office of said in Will Book V, page 338 on the [long blank] day of [long blank] 1860: That among other things in said will, the testator directed that his house and part of a lot of ground situate in the Borough of York, should be for the use of his widow during her life, and at her death should go to his children; that he died possessed of personal estate amounting to three hundred and seventy dollars and [long blank] cents, three hundred dollars worth of which said widow retained under the three hundred dollar exemption law for the benefit of widows, and the balance under the provisions of said will for her benefit; that he died seized in fee of said house which is worth about three hundred dollars, and situate in the Borough of York in said County on the South Side of West King Street, bounded on the west by property of ___ Collars, on the east by property of Thomas Evans, on the north by King Street and on the South by a twenty feet public alley; that there is no personal estate to pay the debts of said testator and it is therefore necessary to sell said real estate. Your petitioner therefore prays your Hon: Court to grant him an order to sell said real estate for the payment of debts of which he hereunto annexed a schedule as far as they have been brought to his knowledge.

"York Co SS - Before me a justice of the peace in and for said county personally came the above named petitioner who being duly qualified according to law saith the facts set forth are true to the best of his knowledge & belief. [Note on court transcription] "Whereupon the Court award a Sale of said Real Estate as set forth in said Petition to William McCandless the Executor of said Testator on his filing Bond with approved security in the sum of $600 to be approved of by the court and order and direct him to Expose said Real Estate to Public Sale on [long blank] the [long blank] day of [long blank] 1861 after first giving due and legal notice of the time and place of said sale, and to sell the same for the best price that can be had therefor, and make report to the next Court thereafter according to the law.

"To the Hon: the judges of the orphans Court of York County
The undersigned executor of the last will and testament of Peter Schriver deceased respectfully reports that by virtue of the annexed order of your Hon: Court - having given due and legal notice of the time and place of sale - he exposed the previous in said order described to public sale by public vendue or outcry, at the public house of L. F. Myers in the Borough of York on the 28th day of September 1861 and sold it to Nancy B. Schriver for the sum of three hundred and twenty one dollars cash she being the highest and best bidder and that the highest price bidden therefore, which sale he prays your Hon: Court to confirm etc."
