The orginal photograph is in an album in the care of Dianne (Gleim) Bowders of Tennessee and was identified by her maternal grandmother, Mabel (Zumbrun) Rishel, as Mabel's uncle Dan Roland, who lived in Emigsville, PA.
More research is needed to determine where and during what time period the W. C. Bell studio operated, which would help bracket the date of this portrait. His death certificate states that he was born 28 February 1867.
