Lillian M. Roland

Olean, N.Y.

Lillian M. Roland of Olean, N.Y., died July 23 at Cattaraugus County Nursing Home, Olean.  She was 103.

Mrs. Roland retired in 1958 as a bookkeeper with F. W. Woolworth's Store in York.

She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Olean.  She was a former member of Messiah Lutheran Church, York, and its Ladies Missionary Society.

She moved from York to Olean in 1970.

Born in Dallastown, Dec. 7, 1892, she was a daughter of the late William and Mary Leffler Bailey.  She was the wife of the late Charles J. Roland.

She leaves a niece, Carol Oyster, Hummelstown; a nephew, Glen W. Kraber, York; and a son-in-law, Gerald Weitzel, with whom she lived, Olean.

A daughter, Mariam Weitzel, died in March.  A son, Carl J. [sic - B.] Roland, is deceased.

Visitations are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. this evening at Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean.  The service is at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Christ United Methodist Church, Olean, with her pastor, the Rev. Ronald V. Isaman, officiating.

A graveside service is at 3 p.m. Friday at Prospect Hill Ccemetery with the Rev. Christine Babey-Jones, pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church, officiating.

OLEAN, N.Y. - Lillian M. (Bailey) Roland, 103, of 1240 Brook St., Olean, N.Y., formerly of York, died Tuesday at Cattaraugus County Nursing Home.  She was the wife of Charles J. Roland, who died in 1924 [sic - 1925].

The service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Christ United Methodist Church in Olean.  A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Prospect Hill Cemetery in York.  Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean.

Mrs. Roland was born Dec. 7, 1892, in Dallastown.  She was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Leffler) Bailey.

Officiating at the service will be her pastor, the Rev. Ronald V. Isaman, and at the graveside service will be the Rev. Christine Babey-Jones, pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church.
