March 2007
Making the preemie caps hooked me on the relaxing, meditative uses of
crocheting for charity. In looking around for another place that needed
crocheted items, I discovered that a Wellness Community
was opening nearby, providing a variety of non-medical services to
cancer patients and their caregivers. An e-mail note asking if they
were interested in chemo caps solicited a quick and enthusiastic
response. So I found some fun patterns on the Internet and began taking
batches of caps to them. By my second visit, they had acquired a rack
and were displaying my caps for their participants to choose. Each cap
has a tag with care instructions on one side and a message from me on
the other.
