NRP Meeting Notes – Nov. 6th, 2006

Steering Committee members present included Travis Cortright, Mary Davidson, Beth Desnick, Tom Thull, and Lynell Voigt.

Members absent were Steve Edel and Sara Strzok.

After introductions, Peg Mountin, NRP City staff person, gave us an orientation to Phase 2 of the Neighborhood Revitalization Program.

Peg Mountin provided us with several NRP Program background handouts including Phase 2 Budget information, the Phase 1 Plan for Tangletown, The Phase 2 Participation Agreement (signed in 2004), and the 2005 NRP Phase 2 Survey Analysis for the Tangletown Neighborhood. The Steering Committee will be relying heavily on this information as we proceed to prepare an NRP Phase 2 Plan.

From a city program perspective, Peg said that it’s very important to work on targeted outreach, so that under-represented populations such as Non-English, Senior, and Renter groups are included in the process.

The committee should work more on what to achieve in the Phase 2 Plan and not get hung up on how to achieve it.

There is a lot of potential to partner with other adjacent neighborhoods on those issues that go beyond our boundaries. The neighboring organizations include Kingfield, Lynnhurst, Windom, Page, and Field.

The next meeting will be Monday, November 27th, 7pm at Fuller Park.
