The subject of this chapter has special interest and importance
as it pertains to the calculus. Therefore, a separate chapter
is presented. The importance of the constant e cannot
be stressed enough for the study of higher mathematics. Not only
does it have this importance, the algorithm which leads you to
its definition, contains some of the most fascinating mathematics
in the study of calculus.
In Chapter #1 you studied the Power Function and its inverse. You then looked at the Exponential Function and its inverse, the Logarithm. To study the derivatives of these functions you will reverse the order for reasons that will become evident as you develop the concepts.
