Saturday, January 20, 2007 Dr. Mark Neff, a fascinating geneticist at UC Davis, is our speaker. Tri-Valley SPCA in Dublin. We will have a business meeting starting at 12:45 Dr. Neff will speak at 2:00 PM Download meeting flyer for directions “CANINE GENETICS & THE DNA SIGNATURES OF TOY BREEDS” Dr. Neff will report on recent advances in the field of canine genetics, and will discuss research topics of particular interest to Toy breed enthusiasts. Mark Neff is the Associate Director of the Canine Genetics Unit at the UC Davis Center for Veterinary Genetics. Dr. Neff received his Ph.D. in classical genetics from the University of Virginia where he investigated the cellular mechanisms that guard against cancer. He was awarded a Human Genome Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship to work with Dr. Jasper Rine at UC Berkeley on the first Dog Genome Project. Current research interests include the genetics of complex diseases (like ectopic ureters) and selected action patterns (like pointing behavior).
