Public Speaking I’ve given dozens of talks to professional and amateur geological societies. Among other events, I was the evening speaker at the 2004 Friends of the Nebraska State Museum’s annual dinner. I have a reputation for being a clear, entertaining speaker with a humourous but informed style. More recently I’ve started presenting to fishkeeping clubs as well. In 2009 I gave three talks in the US, one to the Greater Cincinnati Aquarium Society and two to the Minnesota Aquarium Society. Although I live in the UK, I fly to the US once or twice a year for Christmas and other family occasions, so if you’d like me to speak at an American aquarium club by all means ask, and we can probably work out an inexpensive deal that suits us both. Starting with a talk about fossils and magic at Treadwells Bookshop, I’ve also given talks on the connections between geology, fossils, magic and folklore. If you’d like to talk to your group or society, then please contact me by e-mail. |
