Magazines Computing Within the computing press I write primarily about Macintosh software, ranging from in-depth reviews of big productivity applications like Microsoft Office and Freeway Pro through to shareware goodies and system add-ons. I also write tutorials and occasionally opinion pieces. Fishkeeping My articles in this field are mostly about freshwater community species and systems and aimed at beginner and intermediate-level aquarists. Topics covered include water chemistry, species selection, healthcare, troubleshooting and breeding. I also like to cover the so-called ‘oddball’ species frequently kept by more advanced aquarists such as pufferfish, rare livebearers, spiny eels and brackish water fish. Geology As a geologist my expertise is based firmly within palaeontology rather than hard rock geology; as such my articles tend to be about fossils, fossil collecting, and how scientists use evidence from the fossil record to advance our understanding of the natural world. |
