Harriet
	Vane's arms

The world has known great dancers,
As choreographers can state.
But only one has earned his fame
In the way our Paul has, who's late.

A smart young Oxford writer
Knows all there is to be known.
Unlike the waiting Miz Weldon,
Miss Vane knows Paul's soul has flown.

Here upon the lounge dance floor,
Antoine and his partner glide,
While a once optimistic Alexis
Bobs and billows on the tide.

The band leader thinks, puzzled,
As the performers take a bow.
("Where is that young gigolo?
Where has he gone to now?")

Tears streak the widow's powder.
She weeps, and her true age shows.
She sobs, "Where is my handsome man?
What's become of my sweet betrothed?"

While L'Heure Bleue scented ladies
Flirt and flutter mascaraed eyes.
The Czar of All Mother Russia
Is fish food. Such a sad demise!
