So with unhealthy face,
And unperturbed grace,
Deliberate speed and mocking intimacy,
Each dancer glid with hooded lid;
The writer mused on what she could not see.

She thought on other temps and other moeurs
And seamstressed arts, and faux languors.
"Wist men to evade what progress doth pursue?
Surely they're not fools
And comprehend the rules..."
She saw but did not see, who saw not Love with he.
