Excerpt from The Gigolos, Act One

Scene: A hotel lounge at a seaside resort town on the coast of England

ENSEMBLE

(Widows pass in front of Gigolos)

WIDOWS

Here's a first-rate opportunity
for romantic domesticity,
for we're not too very elderly
and they dance with such divinity.
We shall quickly be parsonified,
conjugally matrimonified,
for at last we've found somebody young
to be spending all that money on

(Gigolos pass in front of Widows)

GIGOLOS

Here's a first-rate opportunity
for a future with security,
For they're not too very elderly
with unbounded generosity.
We shall quickly be parsonified,
conjugally matrimonified,
And then we'll find somebody young
to be spending all that money on.

SOLO - Harriet

For shame, for shame, for shame!
Sad watering place!
My path has surely strayed!
Autres temps,
Autres moeurs!
Sad watering place!

ALL

Sad watering place! etc.
