It doesn't happen very often but when
it does it's big fun. The smallest sail I have here in Los Barrilies is my 4.2
Northwave. The smallest board I have here is 8'6" Realwind 261 (today I wish I
had my 8'2"). Today, a rare day in Los Barrilies, went off big time blowing hard
all day long. Wayne our neighbor, wind gage was reading 29 mph winds by noon. I
started on a 5.2 at 10:30 and the big 271 Realwind. At noon I was digging out
the 4.2 and putting a 8 1/2 wave fin on the 261. The swells on the out side were
BIG, house size big. The combination of wind and wave movement gave a sensation
of wave riding. The swells would ramp up with steep ridable faces for a couple
of hundred feet. You could run up drop down, run up and drop down a haft dozen
times or more with out losing speed. Jibbing on the swells was sweet, big smooth
faces with wide spacing, you could drop in and just stand on your board making
small cut backs or just do a big lazy turn. I WANT MORE!!!!
