Wed - March 3, 2004Visible progress!Tonight at work, I'd forgotten to bring a pen, so,
rather than doing homework, I ended up just knitting and studying for my oral
exams.
Here's where I am on Jamaica. Do you notice anything exciting about what Devil Duck and my nostepinde are pointing to?
Does this help?
I cast off the stitches for the armholes. This is exciting; it had seemed that this was just going on and on and on, but without any real progress. Now, though, I get to move to the second paragraph of the instructions! Posted at 10:49 PM Sun - February 8, 2004That's where I want to go...Well, here's another picture of Jamaica. There has
actually been progress since the last picture I took; it just doesn't show up
very well. (Color is inaccurate; the flash washes it out. It's actually a
nearly optic white.)
I think that I have another repeat left, and then I'll get to divide for the armholes. My baby blanket luck appears to have been transferred to this sweater. I had just finished knitting the top row of the back/sides eyelet part, which starts out the yarn overs slanting in a different way. I realized, when I got to the end, that I was off by one stitch. I counted back and found that I'd accidentally made one about a third of the way in. I unknit back to there and carefully worked it back, where I found out that I was one stitch off in the other direction. I took a deep breath and started counting. Luckily, it was that repeat right before the last that I'd messed up, so I only had to take out seven stitches instead of around a hundred. I'd made that mistake after counting in multiples of six to the end from where I was to find out whether or not I was in the right place. I counted and came up with a multiple of six, but three left over instead of the one I was supposed to have. I thought that that was odd, but kept knitting on. I quickly realized that if your pattern is a yarn over and knit one slip one pass slipped stitch over pair, then five blank stitches, that adds up to SEVEN stitches. I'm hoping that all of this lately (and losing the clear fountain pen that I got myself in the fall and use to mark my papers and grade my students' exams and quizzes) just means that all my luck is being saved up for other things. Also, if you poke your tongue with a cable needle, it hurts. Posted at 09:18 PM Sat - November 22, 2003Aruba, Jamaica, Oooh I want to take you...I did more on Jamaica; I think that I have about
one more cable motif to go before I separate for the front and the
back:
The yarn is still white; it just turned pink after I processed the picture so that the details would show. (To give you an idea, I took the picture on the pale blue futon.) I'll probably take this along on Thanksgiving. Posted at 11:30 AM |
