- Every year in early October I try to make my way to a Gathering of Men at the Buffalo Gap Camp in Capon Bridge, West Virginia. There I seek to renew and revitalize myself, while I strengthen my connection to men very important in my life.
- I was very much moved and saddened by the attack and killing of our shipmates aboard USS COLE (DDG-67) in October, 2000 during what was intended to be a brief stop for fuel in Aden, Yemen. Please honor with me the dedication and bravery of these men and women who gave of their last full measure.
