This
is how I plan to approach the C245 course material.
Early in the term we'll explore HTML, webpage design, creation, and management.
I plan to explore the internet and the World Wide Web in some depth later in the term.
We will explore World Wide Web history and structure, E-commerce, and Internet Security.
I am planning extensive use of hands-on exercises and labs.
I will make extensive use of this Web site to give assignments and provide additional resources for the course.
I plan to offer, this term, the possbility of three different, parallel approaches, or Pipelines, as I refer to them.
Pipeline One -- A path of Instructor led lecture, subject demonstrations, activities, and tests which meet the course objectives.
Pipeline Two -- A less traditional path of individual student course work. The student will complete a series of assignments which meet the course objectives. The assignments will be submitted in the form of a series of Websites.
Pipeline Three -- Another, less traditional path of student team course work. Students complete assignments in support of the Portland YouthBuilders Website project. Students form into teams of two or more. In the teams, the students give written proposals to their Instructor which detail how the team intends to meet the course objectives in the context of the Website project.
The January 2000 Term C245 project team developed a draft website very well received by PYB staff.
