Shopping
Well, now.
This morning I took a leisurely
breakfast downstairs, working on these blogs and caffeinating myself. Rick's
Cafe, as they call the room with the coffee and the wine and the other stuff,
has a little courtyard outside. Because the day was warm, the warmest so far on
this trip, it was really nice sitting outside. I worked there for a while, and
then I returned to the room.
Philip told
me that he could hear me every time I coughed, as our new room overlooked this
courtyard. I asked him whether he could see me too. He said he looked out the
bathroom window, which was the best one to see out of, as the other one had an
air conditioning unit in it, but he couldn't see anybody. This was probably
because I had to make several trips to get the food and the computer outside.
Anyhow.
We packed up the room and then we
waited awhile to be moved into the new one. But because this was the last day
for shopping of any kind, and because we wanted to get back to the Drama Book
Shop and pick up some books and stuff, we left before the new room was
ready.
The Drama Book Shop is on 40th
Street, just off Times Square, and so we walked there. Once there, Philip went
off to try and find a cable for Margot's digital camera that would allow her to
download the photographs she took. He walked up and down 8th Avenue, looking in
different camera stores, but had no luck. By the time he got back he was hot
and grouchy, having not eaten. I, on the other hand, was excited about a number
of books I'd seen on starting production companies and the like, and so we
bought them. Then we went off in search of
food.
Philip took me to a noodle shop in
44th Street called Ollie's, where we ate lunch, and then we went back to the
hotel to rest up for the evening. We found out we'd been moved into another
suite just like the first, only a floor higher, so that we have pigeons on our
windowsills and not quite as much street noise.
