ESSAY #4: Refutation Paper
Assignment:
The fourth paper will be a refutation essay. In this paper, you will get the opportunity to consider the opposite point of view of your topic. You will present it in the paper, and then refute it. This paper will include a bibliography page page (APA or MLA format) that references the source you are analyzing.
Peer-editing guide:
- Is the opposite point of view summarized in the opening paragraph?
- Is it presented fairly, without fallacies and ridicule?
- Has the writer recognized and conceded to the strong points of the argument?
- In recognizing the weak points of the argument, has the writer avoided fallacies and ridicule?
- Are the weaknesses of the argument illustrated with solid evidence and logical argument from the writer's point of view?
- Does the conclusion recognize both the strengths and the weaknesses of this position?
- Is the essay coherent?
- Is the organization logical, or does it jump from idea to idea without transitions?
- Is the support logical and factual, or emotional?
- Does the writer show evidence of bias?
- Has the writer covered all the requirements of the essay?
