WOLF

Hello and Welcome!

This story has been wrestling through my head off and on since around 1995, when I was in high school.  Since then, it has expanded from one story (what is now part 7: Triumvirate) to an eight part saga.  In this iteration, each part is summarized into two to three pages to give the reader (and myself in writing it) a general idea of the entire story arch of this character, Wolf.

This story is told through various genres and I hope that the variety comes through.  For example, the first part (Seven Days) only takes place on seven days over ten years and skips from one day to the next, while others (I Love NYC) take place over a single night.  The genres vary from action to suspense to science fiction.  The other stories are more or less linear, with a few story elements and explanations postponed to a later story.

The Summary was written in the latter part of 2006 and encompeses the entire saga.  Once the Summary was finished, I was left with the looming prospect of filling things out and writing the full version.  Finally, I knew I had to just start it.  So, I re-read what I had written and, following a re-write of Seven Days, I started writing what will hopefully become the full version of the story.  In doing so, I came up with doing a serial of the story, writing a chapter every week or so.  So, check back every week for additional (and possible updates to previously written) chapters.

Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoy the story.

Notes
(Now more recent stuff is at the top!)

2009-04-09   This week, chapter 9 is the big new addition.  As I said last week, its a big action scene I've had in my head for many years now.  I just hope it's as good on paper as it does in my head!  Also, there is an addition to chapter 3.  David's greeting with Jill had seemed a little lacking lately so I extended it out a bit more before glazing through dinner.  If the chapter runs a little, I may re-read it a cut a few things.

Also, I started a real blog to track progress on NYC.  The link is http://wolfsaga8.blogspot.com.  I posted ch. 1-3 last week and will post 2 chapters a week until it gets caught up with where I'm writing.  I mention it because this will robably be the last update I make here.  The HTML is getting a little too much to keep up with with all the updates and additions.  For those that have been reading here, Thank You.  And you'll get a little break before continueing on the blog.

2009-04-02   Okay, ch.8 has been posted.  A week later than I wanted to have it but I hope it's worth the wait!  We're finally really getting into the meat of the plot.  I'm excited for the upcoming ch.9, as it is an action scene I've had playing in my head for many years.  I just hope it comes off as cool as it looks to me.  And we'll really see Wolf as a 'shoot first/talk second' action bad-ass kind of guy.  But I'm getting ahead of myself.  Enjoy ch.8 as there is some good stuff and we'll get to see where that new character (recently added to ch.1) is going to get used.  Also, there is an addition in ch.2 to address a comment/question from someone.  As before (with the issue of Wolf's escape in Ch.1) what started as a few sentences that could have handled it, it became much more involved and the story is the better for it.  And last but not least, there is an addition to ch.6, which was done completely on a whim of an idea and I liked it so it was expanded a bit.

2009-03-26   Sorry, no new chapter this week.  I decided not to follow my own advice and make some updates and additions to earlier chapters (1-3).  Someone brought up a few points on security and Wolf's escape so I wanted to address them.  I also introduced a new character (as promised); she will be coming up later.  Lastly, for the past few weeks, I've been thinking about names, nicknames, and specifically David's nickname Wolf.  I've been trying to decide when to use each one, as different people will refer to him according to how they know him... but how should I (the author) make the distinction?  After some thought (and it might still change) I came up with is when David goes into work/battle/fight mode he becomes Wolf.  Any other time, like when he's on a date with his girlfriend, he is David.  While I don't want to imply that David has multiple personality disorder; I do want to show that it is really like two sides to the same coin.  This is similar to a person who would show the various sides of themselves when they're at the office compared to out at a bar with friends.  The distinction also shows the reader where his mind is (or where he thinks it needs to be; right or not).  Hopefully it won't be confusing referring to the same person by two names, but it should also be clearer what his mind set is and where he is mentally.

2009-03-19   As promised, ch.7 was just posted!  I'll try to have the next update (hopefully ch.8 plus a few revisions of ch. 1 & 2) ready for next Thursday (3/26).

2009-03-17   Just finished ch. 7 of NYC!  And I just made a decision: based on my original idea for this site, I'll be releasing ch. 7 on Thursday (3/19) and further chapters each consecutive Thursday to try to have something a little more regular.  I've got some good ideas for additional material to the story... the only question is where to add her in!  Enjoy!

2009-03-12   Still working on NYC.  I've procrastinated on ch. 6 (a heavy dialoge scene) for too long, so last week, I just hammered it out.  Doing so helped me find some new excitment for the story, so I'm knee deep in ch 7 currently.  One hang up I've been having was that I would keep going back and adding new stuff or developing existing stuff.  The problem with that is that it slows down the process (and keeps me from actually ever finishing!), so I have resolved to do that less (if at all) and try to just finish it!  To just finish something!  So, my modification of existing content will be kept to a minimum in my attempt to finish the story.  (Now I'm only goning back for things I'm refrencing that should have been mentioned or didn't get mentioned very well in the first place.)  Enjoy!

2008-10-08   I added a few more things to the seriel of NYC (part 3).  I think I may be switching to a PDF instead of HTML as it will be easier for me to update.

2008-09-17   I can't beleive its been an entire year since I've posted anything!  Mostly thats been due to a bit of writer's block on the alt version of Seven Days.  Well, anyway, I had the urge recently to pick it up again in another area, so I wrote some of the beginning of NYC (part 3).  Hope you like it.

2007-09-12   The serial for Seven Days (which is still in progress) doesn't follow the Summary version.  Although, all the events in the Summary still occur.  The differance is mostly in the scope (or timeframe) of the story.

2007-07-23   Finnally... the second chapter of the Alt Vers of Seven Days.

2007-06-13   Finished the first chapter of the Alternative Version of Seven Days.  Check it out!

2007-06-08   Okay, something unexpected, but not very surprising, happened about a week ago.  While finishing the first chapter of Seven Days, I had an idea that would completely change the scope of the overal story!  The idea of having the story take place on seven differant days never sat with me 100%, so for the past few months (every now and then), I would think about how it could be done differently in search of something better.  The idea I had involved a story taking place over seven consecutive while David is on a camping trip with his friends (Kurt, Tony, and John) in the woods.  It would take place during the summer when David is 16 or 17 and would some how demonstrate David's markmanship skills.  Some similiar movies that came to mind are The Goonies, White Water Summer, and Stand by Me.  So for now, I will be putting the completed 1st chapter of Seven Days up but am not really working on any more until I explore the alternate version a little more and see where I end up.  More info later as necessary.

2007-05-15   Started Serial of Seven Days.  The idea is that I will add 1 chapter each week until it is done.  Just watch out that previous chapters could be updated as well.

2007-05-14   Various rewording and rewriting of 'Seven Days.'  Some parts not in the correct tense. Also, updated David's last name to Bryce.
