THURSDAY 20th FEBRUARY | DAVE'S BIRTHDAY
Quick update before the internet blackout begins. It's strange all the emotions you run through on a minute-by-minute basis when you end one chapter in your life and start another. I know that's being overly dramatic and that we're not actually 'losing' anything. I guess it boils down to an internal desire to retain the status quo. Challenge however is good for the soul, so it is with both sadness and joy that we say farewell to our Wellington friends. We are going miss all of you more than you know and we promise to stay in touch. In return you have to promise to try and visit.
See you all again soon, love Nick & Hayley
WEDNESDAY 19th FEBRUARY
It's been a few days since the last update, but I can confirm progress has been made. The house is now (mostly) empty. I know what you're saying, I've been claiming that for weeks now, but this time it really is true.
As of tomorrow we will no longer receive any (snail)mail at this address. All our mail is being forwarded to Hamilton. As the mail box is empty today that means you've all missed your chance to be the last person to send us mail at this abode. That honour went to the credit card company yesterday. D'oh.
Steve (my bro) came round to help us move out the bed and the bikes yesterday and stayed for dinner as well. Fortunately we'll get to see him again before we go, on Thursday when he takes possession of a sparkly (almost) new iMac and again in Auckland for Dad's 70th Birthday.
This will probably be the last update for over a week as we will be without access to a (real) computer for a while : )
THURSDAY 13th FEBRUARY
The house is now almost empty. It's taken a while but it now feels like we have made progress towards our departure next week. Packing has almost become a way of life around here but I'm sure I'll adjust to the change :)
Yesterday I organised the disconnection of our utilities even (gasp) internet! Now would be a good time to update your address books as the ntrugly@ihug.co.nz address will soon be no more. Our permanent addresses are nick_trugly@mac.com and hayley_jane@mac.com.
We received our bond back and paid our last lot of rent today. We are approaching the end of an era - very quickly. We are feeling some trepidation about the whole undertaking but overall I think we are very excited. We have the growing urge to be 'out there' doing it, rather than just planning for it.
My mind is a bit blank as to what other pieces of information I should pass on. I think perhaps it might be time for breakfast.
SATURDAY 8th FEBRUARY
We had a busy day today, and for once this week it didn't involve packing! Hayley's best friend Sarah and her mum (Norma) were down in Wellington for the day visiting. Mainly to see the Lord of the Rings exhibition, but we managed to inveigle our way into their day and so got to go to the exhibition and spend some quality time with them as well.
We are relaxing with some X-Files and the Rugby 7's tonight. The final with NZ is about to be on so that's my cue to leave.
THURSDAY 4th FEBRUARY
We are busy packing and that's really all there is to say. We're hoping to get all non-essential items out of the house this weekend. Which will make it a lot easier to give the flat a thorough clean.
Very slim pickings I know, but that's all folks. To help ease the pain, take two of these and call me in the morning.
