Kotu Stream is just behind the Bakotu Hotel. It is a very lush area,
filled with an amazing array of bird life. We walked very carefully
through the long
grass in case of snakes, but didn't see any.

These majestic Fan Palms are very common around the Kout area. |
The Bakotu Craft Market. Just to the left is the Kotu Bedula night
club. Live West African music every night! |
Another view of the Bakotu Craft Market. We bought several wooden
carvings here, and a drum for Spencer.
|
The street in front of the Bakotu Hotel is filled with waiting taxis,
tourist guides, and hawkers.

The saddest sight in the Gambia are the very disabled people. There is
no welfare system, but there is a very strong extended family
tradition. However, these people were the ones we gave gifts of money
to.
