St Andrews 1998 Well it finally had to happen. The distinguished members of the Osnaburg Golf Society finally made it to the home of golf - St Andrews - a town steeped in history, that had played host to all of the great names in golf, was dragged down to our level. I thought it was a brilliant place with great courses, plenty of pubs and a cracking curry house that we visited several times. We didn't play the Old Course but as you would expect there was plenty of good golf to be had. I particularly remember playing at Crail on a soaking wet day. The course was originally deemed unplayable but they eventually let us a go out - everybody had an enjoyable if somewhat wet day. We also played a nice course at Scotscraig where we were joined by the seldom seen Roger Parr. It was great to see him although when it comes to golf he doesn't live up to his name. A also remember yet another cameo appearance from Wattie Allan. He turned up for a couple of days driving a great big Jag! He reminded me of the Mike Baldwin character in Coronation Street(a spiv who drove a big Jag). I'm sure Wattie will take that as a compliment! Check out the photo album for some of our members posing in front of golfing landmarks! NF
