Keswick 1997 This was one of the most unusual of our golf holidays in that it was a three venue trip - Glasgow, Southerness and Keswick. We started off in Glasgow by watching rather than playing golf. Fritz had got us tickets for the Scottish Open at Loch Lomond so we went to watch how it should be done. After the golf we went for a few beers in Glasgow then stayed at Fritz's place. The abiding memory here was of walking home looking for an Indian restaurant but being told by Fritz not to bother as there was plenty to eat back at his place. The plenty to eat turned out to be two ounces of cheese and half a dozen crackers - which Fritz promptly ate himself! On the Sunday we travelled down to Southerness and played golf there in the afternoon. This is a magnificent links course and far to difficult for us. We spent the night in a very dodgy hotel on a caravan site. On Monday we moved on to Keswick and much more salubrious surroundings. During the week we played some great courses, some good courses and some average courses. The great courses were Silloth and Seascale, the latter being played around the Sellafield nuclear processing plant! The distinctly average course was Cockermouth - a course which makes Newcastleton look like Augusta! The participants in the holiday this year were, Keith, Fritz, Tony, Gavin, Andy, Dave A, Davie, and Steve. With Ket and Dave Faran joining us for the Saturday game. This was also the first time the golf holiday has hosted a stag night. On the last night we gave Dave F a proper sending off - beer, curry, vomit etc! All in all a very full and eventful holiday! KD
