About the Author

Nancy Faraday teaches English and Media Studies at John McCrae Secondary School in Nepean Ontario Canada. In addition to classroom duties and contributions to English department initiatives, she participates in a committee dedicated to improving the educational experience of students destined for college or the world of work. Nancy is a member of the Association for Media Literacy. She has presented several professional development workshops on issues related to incorporating media literacy into traditional English literature classrooms. In recent years, she has worked closely with two colleagues, Robert Godwin and Melanie White, to develop a network of interested media teachers in The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board.

Nancy is keenly interested in the evolution of mass media and its influence on North American and global culture, partly because she is a self-described "pop-culture junkie." She likes to point out that she owned an iPod before they were a status item. Nancy's contact information is:
