Henry was born in Gardner, MA on 7 November 1841 to Sylvester and Mary Kendall Jillson. He returned from the war never having been either sick or wounded during his service. In Warwick he ran a sawmill and a grist mill, and was active as a town selectman and member of the school committee. He also became a brother-in-law to my great grandfather George W. Gates when his brother Justus married George's sister Ellen.
