Dungeon Crawl
Instructions
Note: The key commands described below assume you're using the default key settings. However, you can change the key commands by selecting 'Options' from the main menu.
Navigate around in the dungeon using the arrow keys. If you run into an obstacle, you can hold down the Shift key to pull it instead of pushing it. Open doors by pressing the 'O' key and then bumping into the door. You can look at anything by pressing the 'L' key and bumping into it. Press 'K' to climb up and down ladders. Hold down the Option key (or the Alt key for Windows users) to zip along corridors. Rest by pressing the 'R' key.
Fight monsters by running into them. Be sure you have your weapon wielded and your armor worn, if any. To wear or wield an item, click on the 'Equip' tab, and click on the item you wish to use. Be careful, though - using a weapon you aren't skilled in can get you killed!
Gather treasure. Gather treasure by pressing 'G' and bumping into it. You'll find lots of neat stuff in the dungeon, much of it useful. However, you may want to go to the surface and get the items identified before using them, since some items are harmful. You can't sell an item until it has been identified, except for a pittance at the mercantile. Note that the further down into the dungeon you go, the more treasure you will find (and the more risks you will take!).
Cast spells. Some characters can cast spells, and almost any character can learn spells at the Mage's Tower. Buy or find a scroll with a spell on it, and read it. If you're smart enough, you'll learn the spell. To cast the spell, click on the 'Spell' tab, and click on the spell you wish to cast. You can also type a 'c' to cast the last spell you cast. (If you find yourself casting a spell a lot, you can assign them as macros to the '1'-'9' keys by holding shift and pressing the number to assign the last spell you cast to that macro slot.)
Kick butt! As you explore and fight, you'll gain experience, which will make you a better adventurer - stronger, smarter, tougher. You'll also gain gold, which you can use for better equipment and for training to increase your skills.
