Our
laboratory is located at the
Department of Anatomy &
Neurobiology at the
University of Maryland School of Medicine We also participate in
the campus-wide Program in
Neuroscience. Our research focuses on information processing by
local neuronal networks. Our studies are aimed at understanding these
computational processes by deciphering the biophysical properties of
individual neurons, the patterns and properties of synaptic
interactions among different cells, and the mechanisms by which
neuronal networks code and store sensory information. An underlying
theme in our studies is an integrative approach focusing on cellular,
network, computational and behavioral correlates of neuronal
