A Summit Bid on Aconcagua
In late Winter of 2001 Chris Keller and I (Nels Johnson) did a summit bid on Aconcagua, the "Roof of the Americas" at 22,843ft. Many, many obstacles prevented us from reaching the top. However, we did hike into Plaza de Mulas (base camp) and day hiked up to Camp 2 (Nido de Condores - The condors nest) at 17,553 ft.
