| | | The mist is still on the hills. | |
| | | The sun peeks through the live oak motts in the grasslands up slope. | |
|
| | Lone Man Creek's valley is still in the shadow of the hills. | |
| | | But upstream, by the lake, the sun is starting to shine through the trees... | |
| | | ...and reaches the Sycamores, Flame Leaf Sumac and grasses by the lake. | |
|
| | Finally the sun breaks free of the hills... | |
| | | ...and bathes the lake... | |
| | | ...in full mourning light... | |
|
| | ...rising steam as the sun's rays... | |
| | | Downstream of the dam, Lone Man Creek passes an island of grass... | |
|
| | ...then broadens before it reaches... | |
| | | | ...and the fern grotto... | |
|
| | | | In this section of Lone Man Creek flows past rocky banks... | |
|
| | ...and native grasslands... | |
| | | ...of Indian Grass amongst the Lindheimer Muhly... | |
| |
| | Lone Man Creek looking upstream where it flows past the bluff on the south... | |
| | | ...and grasses on the north bank. | |
| | | Indian Grass below the bluff on the south bank... | |
|
| | ... and by the 'rocks' (in the background). | |
| | | From the bluff we see the gently sloping grasslands to the north... | |
| | | ...and the erosional remnant 'rocks' in the creek. | |
|
| | Just south of the creek, we enter the gently sloping grasslands... | |
| | | ...then look back north, as we traverse the woodland edge on the hills... | |
| |
| | ... and just below the dam. | |
| | | The dense & diverse woodland on the steep slope south of the creek... | |
| | | .. is also home to ferns and mosses. | |
|
| | A jeep trail runs all along the ridge. | |
| | | But lets get back to the dam to relax.... | |
| | | ... while listening to the creek burble over the dam. | |
