Natsuko Utsumi is an international photojournalist whose work has been highlighted in many world- renowned publications. Natsuko was born in Kobe, Japan.  In 1987 Natsuko relocated to New York where she continues to produce world-class photography for widely read magazines including Time, Newsweek, French VSD, and Italian Panorama, Japanese Esquire and Japanese Newsweek. Over the years, she has presented,through her insightful eye for human events, the ethnic cleansing and rapes in Bosnia, domestic violence agianst women, and the Neo-Nazi women of Germany, or many news features.  She has published a book on "Female Genital Mutilation" in 2003.

The photographs presented in this web page represent her work documenting the destruction of the Central American Rainforest. She spent traveling in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Guatemala where she witnessed firsthand the virtual rape of an invaluable resource. Natsuko's work in the rainforest has documented not only the destruction, but the pure beauty of the Central American Rainforest.
