The Braulio Park in Costa Rica is a stronghold of biodiversity. Botanists estimate that there are 6,000 species of plants here-more than in the entire state of Texas. There are more than 1,200 species of Orchid alone. Braulio is also home to monkeys, tapirs (a long-nosed, donkey-sized relatiave of the hippopotamus that looks most like a pig), jaguars, and 400 species of birds, including the legendary green parrot known as quetzal.
