Game on: Mac mini trojan for gaming platformIf at first you don't succeed, try and
try again.
Back in 1995, Apple had a great idea to make a
gaming console and general purpose internet appliance for
luddites.
And like most great ideas, it was an abysmal flop. The Pippin may have given Microsoft the impetus to restart its consumer console activities in the form of the Xbox, after the demise of MSX, but that was about the only epitaph this boat anchor spawned. Until now, perhaps. An unconfirmed report from Mac Rumors suggests Apple is teaming with graphics hardware maker ATi to form a gaming division. Too bad Microsoft bought Bungie. There are a number of Australian software makers that could be bought for about 10-20 per cent of the cost of similar software makers in the US. If Apple could get its act together, then it would make the Mac Mini the natural repository for the resultant games, further broadening the popular appeal of the entire platform and dovetailing with Apple's goal to be the family's digital lifestyle hub. ![]() Hmm, where have I seen you before Mac Mini?
Aaahh, I remember now; Good day to you, Master Pippin. Posted: Mon - April 25, 2005 at 03:10 PM |
