a sledding we will go

Toboggans are a Canadian icon.

We pulled out the boys new Christmas toboggans and went sliding over to Pleasant Hill School where there is a really small hill. Later I took Ian and Leif to Leif's park (Leif Erikson Park) where there's a more substantial hill. That's the most fun I've had in years.

Sandwich Shapes

Ian had this idea that he wanted to make breakfast for everyone all by himself. He made peanut-butter sandwiches and then used cookie cutters to make them into animal shapes. Mine was the camel... legs were optional I guess. Yummy and entertaining. All this, and still ready for school on time... Wow!

Oma & Opa

Krista's folks are here visiting. They've recently returned from Ethiopia where they'd spent two months with Rolf & Ange (Rolf is Krista's brother) and Kalia. They made a whirlwind trip up here the day Miah was born, and then were in Winnipeg the next to make their flight. They'd spent Christmas there and so we had a mini gift exchange yesterday. Everyone is drinking them in deeply while they are here... even Josie.
Rolf, Ange, and Kalia last year in Ethiopia.
They're working with SIM at a UN refugee camp with both Christian and Moslem refugees who've been displaced by the Sudanese government.
War shows no favouritism.
