Pleasant Hill
Lord, you have assigned me my
portion and my
cup;
you have made my
lot secure.
The
boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant
places;
surely I have
a delightful inheritance. Psalm 16:5,6
These were some of the verses that God
caused to leap off the pages for us almost two years ago, just before we
purchased our home in "Pleasant Hill ." The entire chapter spoke
deeply to us and affirmed the journey we'd found ourselves on and the places we
felt that we were to go... (not just 'cause of the cool, coincidental wording,
either).My wife, Krista has four years
of missions studies and has travelled the world for the sake of Jesus and His
kingdom. I've been to northern Alberta and as far south as Seattle. My roots
are here in Saskatchewan; born in Prince Albert, raised in Moose Jaw for the
most part and my heart yearns for this province and for Canada. Rather than
seeing how different our desires were, we've come to see how well we compliment
each other, and how we can reach the nations from our own home simply by being
willing to extend our hand. We've met a couple from China who were studying at
the university and became great friends with them. We just had the honour of
attending his commencement ceremony last week. Another time we had an
invitation for lunch with an Afghani couple and their four daughters. Amazing!
These encounters came about because of the free-flowing, relational way with
which Krista interacts with everyone. This is the same way that we've met some
of the young women working our corner. Some people want them to move business
elsewhere; that would be o.k. I guess. But rather than telling them to shove
off, we've felt at times to do the opposite and invite them
in.For the most part our life here is
normal; nothing to out of the ordinary. Our time is spent with our 3 growing
boys and there's little time for much else. We're expecting our fourth child
any day now, so time for us is not going to be freed up in the near future.
We'll just keep on sharing our lives with the folks that God brings into our
sacred space.
