The most constructive part of my day.

There are sacred spaces that I've found in-between 9:25-9:35am & the five or ten minutes on either side of noon.

Every weekday I walk Ian to and from school. It's one of the highlights of my life right now. The other day we were walking across the school yard through the thin layer of new snow and he said, "Hey, Dad... I can see your foot prints! There's one; and another one... and another one... and another one..." You get the idea. I was totally thrilled, of course. Then I wondered why I don't get so excited when I see the traces of my Father's foot steps beside mine.

On the way back home I looked down to see our two sets of prints in the snow; mine, huge and steady and his, light, carefree, and all over the map. I couldn't help but smile; because I'm a dad, but also 'cause, in a lot of good ways, I'm like a kid.
