Hanggliding
Arkansas Hang-gliding This is the Arkansas site and the stepping stone to other great sites . Gunther has been very kind to maintain this site as a service to all Arkansas Pilots. On this site, you will find site records, the names and address of many Pilots and late breaking news affecting Arkansas sites.
U.S.H.G.A. Links Page This page is a rather extensive (about 130) list of hang-gliding related links.
Sky Adventures This site has links to many hanggliding (including mine) and paragliding sites. I think that you can also download free JPEG photos.
News:Rec.aviation.Hang-gliding This is the News Group that I subscribe to. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of activity on this newsgroup so if you have some hang-gliding or paragliding news that you think someone would like to read about then go ahead and join the newsgroup so that you can submit articles too. For a little while I was sending in all my interesting flights with a link to my home page. No body complained but no one encouraged me to continue sending them in either. I probably will send in some flights in the near future but will try to limit them to no more than one per week so that no one will feel that I am spamming them.
Region 6 (Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma) Email list I'm not sure why nobody in region 6 uses the newsgroup above but since they don't I might as well join this list too. The disadvantage of an Email list are that all messages must be downloaded even if they contain material that I am not interested in. Also the messages will not delete automatically.
Millennium I had a very difficult time finding this home page on the web so as a service to others I am listing it here. I suspect that they have a fine product and I think that I might buy one some day but I sure wish that they would advertise more. Even a small add in Hanggliding Magazine with their web address would probably garner some business for them.
Cumulus Motor glider (Marketed by US Aviation ) I will probably end up buying an Exxtacy or Millennium for my next glider but I am also intrigued by the cumulus, especially now that I will soon have a place to build it.
Swift foot launchable sailplane It is a shame that this glider is not manufactured in the US anymore but if I do purchase a Millennium and become proficient at it then my next purchase after that may very well be the Swift...especially if I can't get the XC trophies back from Mark Poustinchian.
Exxtacy Hangglider This is the XC wing of choice for Mark Poustinchian and a proven performer. It is quite possible that I would be crazy not to buy one if I had the money but no one has ever accused me of being overly sane.
Paragliding
Gary Jackson's Paragliding Home Page I got the link to Gary's home page off the newsgroup that I subscribe to and loved it. He writes some real good stories about his adventures overseas. Even though he's not a "stiffie" as he likes to call us aluminum bones fliers, he still manages to have good flights with the bag that he carries around. He also flies a paramotor and I suspect he is competent being towed up by a wench as well.
Canoeing
Arkansas Canoe Club Finally, I found a link to the Arkansas canoe club. They have a lot of valuable information on their site and also a unique method of displaying links. My son and I have not been down a river together yet since I bought the boats last fall, but if we ever get our act together and go to the water then we will use this web site a lot more than we do now.
Nature
Arkansas State Parks The Arkansas State Parks has been very good to us Hang-glider pilots. They own and for the most part maintain the launches on Mt. Nebo, They have a state park near out Petit Jean site, and soon they will be a strong presence on the highest launch in the state: Mt, Magazine. All these state parks have excellent hiking trails also. Check it out!
The Nature Conservancy One thing about Hang-gliding and Canoeing is that it is not possible without nature. Even though I burn gas to get to the sites where I enjoy recreation, I still like to think that what I do is good for the environment. I Support the Nature Conservancy because they are working to make sure that the world will be a great place to live in for future generations.
