Mt. Magazine

Mt. Magazine is a hang three site located about a 45 minute drive from my house in Dardanelle. The setup area is right at launch and provides much room for gliders. Now that there is a lodge real close to launch there will probably be many spectators when the pilot is ready to launch. There also are a lot of friendly visitors that will wave to you as you fly by the lodge so if it is only ridge soarable, be prepared to do a lot of waving. The launch faces south and is about 2000 Feet AGL. The main landing field is Mrs. Albright's but of course there are others.

Sunday afternoon, a conversation with the ark. state park representative at the launch on mag.. several pilots, including myself were discussing the future needs of the flying site and how the state park might be able to help. on the top of the list were restroom facilities at the launch. the park rep. asked how many launches were flown per year at mag., i replied, a least a hundred and probable more! he then told us that the sewer and water was already in place along the south face of the bluff and it would no problem to put a restroom there. he then told us that if we could do 200 launches a year we could have the restrooms!!
we need to somehow document all the launches we do there and present him with the documentation. I had 2 flights over the weekend. we just need 198 more documented. the way he talked and the enthusiasm he showed toward hang gliding there, i believe he was serious with his comments!
