This was going to be a day of flying multiple sites but the thunderstorm gods had other plans. We had no problem with the training hill flight early in the day. I had one flight to check things out. It is a good thing that I did because the training hill harness that I used really needs to hang from the short hangstraps. As I was flying out, I felt as though the glider was way out in front of me. After that flight, I suggested to David that he use the regular harness that he would be using later in the day. he did follow my suggestion and had two great flights. I did get to yell Whack! though after his second flight. He was heading straight for a sticker bush and ended up having a strange flair to avoid it. The base tube hit the ground hard enough to be heard so I responded appropriately.
Later that day, we drove to short mountain due to the forcast being SW. Well, because of the storms that were in the vicinity, the wind was actually out of the NE at the mountain. Perhaps if I had waited the wind would have come around but I am not willing at this point to risk being fooled into launching into a fools wind. I didn't want to take a chance of being tricked. So, David, Butch and I went to Pizza Hut in Paris for dinner then went home. I keep telling David that it will get better some day. It has to!
