Dr. Harwayne is uniquely trained in both Western medicine and Eastern healing arts. He is a licensed and nationally board-certified acupuncturist and is a graduate of the Swedish Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Studies. Additionally, he attended medical school at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and has practiced as a podiatric physician for over fifteen years.

Most practitioners of acupuncture in the United States practice Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).  In addition to being trained in TCM, Dr. Harwayne is also trained in, and specializes in, Classical Chinese Acupuncture. This unique approach allows him to evaluate patients and draw upon various schools of thought to determine the most effective treatment. Dr. Harwayne also utilizes essential oils in his practice to enhance the physiological actions and the emotional effects of acupuncture treatments. Essential oils and acupuncture, when used together, create a harmonious synergy.
Harmony
The Chinese word displayed on these pages means Harmony. It is the objective of Dr. Harwayne to be a bridge between Western and Eastern healthcare, bringing harmony to both of these philosophical points of view. It is his mission to treat the human body as a single entity with many different symptoms being interconnected, thus bringing harmony to the body as a whole.
