Why Go Pro Se?

Pro Se means 'for self'.

If you file a law suit 'Pro Se", you are acting on your own behalf. You are not required to have an attorney. Instead you can 'Do it yourself". Frankly; I believe that a highly motivated pro se will do a better job than any lawyer will. " Man himself is his best servant". Nobody is going to care as much about your case as you will. Also, lawyers tend to charge a lot of money for their services. Because of this, they tend to let a case drag on while they collect fees. They have little incentive to expedidite your case. Most people who file debt related adversary procedures or are considering bankruptcy are in no position to pay thousands to a lawyer. Much of the legal information that you will need to know is now readily available - on the web and in law libraries.

I found that being pro se was empowering; I was in control of my case. The financial savings also allowed me to create an incentive for settlement from the other side, as they did have to pay high priced lawyers.
