Marian and I arrived in Maputo the afternoon of the 9th of May. We spent four busy days together when God suddenly changed everything. Rollands schedule completely changed and the only way for us to get together, and maybe fly with Rolland, was for me to go north where he was and where he would be for an upcoming conference. Thankfully, Rolland graciously provided me with a one-way ticket north and the story follows...
I left Maputo Friday, the 13th of May, for Quelimane by commercial air. When I arrived I was taken by land in a Land Rover inland to Morrumbala for a four day conference held in cooperation with a group from the Canada and Iris Ministries. Approximately 20,000 people attended this conference, the largest conference they have ever put together here. I personally witnessed the lame walk, the blind see, deaf and dumb healed and even tumors healed and disappear at this conference. In addition, we went on outreaches to the local villages to pray and take Gods healing power to them.
Next, I flew back to Quelimane with Rolland in his Cessna 206 to clear customs and then we flew on to Blantyre to clear customs. We then to Bangula in Malawi (a smaller country boarding Mozambique) for another conference. There were 5,000 people just waiting at this dirt runway as we landed. This four day conference, from May 20 to the 25th averaged 20 to 25,000 people each night. I again personally witnessed the same healing power of Gods Holy Spirit but with greater intensity. The witchcraft here in this area was powerful which explains the intensity of the presence of the Holy Spirit. I witnessed demons being cast out of many. Several had five or more demons.
It was on the last night of this conference that two brothers with Iris Ministries prayed and laid hands on me. As soon as they began praying for me my legs became weak and before long I was on the ground, in the dirt, with complete peace in Gods presence. As they continued to pray for me and then laid hands on me I began to babble and before long I was praising God in another language. All of this happened in complete peace and full understanding of what I was doing. Within about 10 minutes I was back up on my feet again praising God for what had just happened. I had an uncontrollable urge to go through the crowd to pray and lay hands on people. Before the night was over, I had prayed over several people to receive Jesus as their Savior. One man came up to me with blindness in one eye and asked for prayer. As I prayed for him God healed him of his blindness and he cried out, I can see! Joe is pictured above with God's miracle. God is so very good!
Rolland and Heidi shared with me what God had done making it clear to me that He (God) was calling us to Africa. They both said that they had been praying for years for another pilot and airplane and knew this was the work of the Holy Spirit. They were both very excited about Flying For Jesus coming alongside of Iris Ministries. Because their ministry is moving north (towards Israel!) we will be living in Pemba on the coast and a bit south of the country of Tanzania.
Late that same afternoon about 6 pm I departed by truck for a flight out of Malawi the next morning in order to rejoin my Love, Marian, for our return trip to the States.
Sharing this with you is meant to encourage those of you, who like us, have always viewed the gifts of the Spirit from a safe distance. Its all about pursuing more intimacy with Jesus Christ. Its up to us how much of Him we really want and how much we want to walk in the power of His Spirit.
When Moses entreated the presence of Lord to go with him (Ex.33:15), the Lord replied,My presence shall go with you.... Moses again said, If thy presence does not go with us, do not lead us up from here. We also entreat our Lord to, ...go with us...! We believe not only that He will go with us but that He will lead us.
Mark 15:15-18 "...Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."
