Time: 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Location: Kitakyushu, Fukuoka

Description: Studies of second language acquisition are ongoing and many differing theories exist. SLA is extremely relevant to us as teachers here in Japan. Based on his master's degree studies with Monash University, Matthew Jenkins will briefly introduce some of the differing theories of SLA such as grammar models, universal grammar, socio-cultural theory, Krashen's monitor theory, individual learning differences, and so on. He will lead into his own personal beliefs about SLA, and how they can be used in the classroom to teach children. This presentation is ideal for someone that wants to brush up on current beliefs and theories in the field of SLA.
