2) There is an interview with Liam and other cast on iesb.net about Kingdom of Heaven. K.K. generously provided us with a transcript, it follows below.
3) I have old movie stills in high resolution versions, with thanks to Tina at lotrmedia.

[What is said by Liam is in bold]

(introductory clip – the knighting ceremony)

All right, now. You know, working for the studio I get to see a lot of the behind the scenes footage and I could tell that this role was very physical, very demanding.

Yes.

What did Ridley put you through, to get ready for this?

Uhm… well, he’s… he’s… a stickler for detail. And that’s… that’s very evident in all his film work. It’s one of the reasons I admire him so much as a filmmaker, because all his movies have this wonderful texture, complexity and layered, uh, detail in them. And this, of course, was no exception. So I, uh, I keep very fit as a… as a guy and I knew, okay, I’ve got some serious uh, sword fighting to do – and not just sword fighting on foot, sword fighting on horseback. So, you know, it’s time to hone them skills again. I’ve done some swashbuckling roles before but.. but this was intense and I wanted to get it right, and have my sword with me all the time. And, uh, that it becomes almost like a… [really long pause as Liam tries to figure out what he’s trying to say] like your… I don’t want to say your shadow, but, anyway, I had it with me all the time. Worked out with it two or three times a day, and worked out with swordmasters and stuff.

Now… you know, like you said, Ridley’s known for this epic kind of film.

Yes.

Locations, sets, extras… I mean, were you prepared, when you started working with him did you really think it was going to be as big as it was?

I had a vague idea, but to be honest with you, you know, when you read the script and you see “Godfrey rides round Iberic castle with his cohorts behind him…” you know, and that’s like two sentences or something, you know, and you actually get there to this castle behind my back here, uh, Loaire Castle up in Northern Spain, and you see this, and you see it lit up, and sentries going along the battlements, and brazier fires going, and a peasant a half a mile away dressed up in the period with sheep and mules and goats…it does take your breath away. And this was all real, this isn’t a set! This is absolutely real.

Now, you’re, you know, Balian is your son but he doesn’t know that you exist, really. And you come and you meet him in this establishment right behind you. What was it like… you know, how is his relationship with his father – he didn’t have one. So what happened when you met him?

When I met Orlando? Or…? [pause as Liam considers which way to take this question] Uh, well, we both knew what was called for in the script, uhm… Uh, we you know, in Spain we certainly hung out as much as we could. I mean, Orlando was working every day – and I was too, in that period and, uh, coming back and doing our physical workouts and stuff like that, so it was hard. But we always found time, every day, to kinda hang with each other a little bit, and just cut the breeze.

4) 3 caps from the short appearance in Scott Ridley: Behind the scenes clip.
