Main topic: Photo, image manipulation tips
Join us on Thursday, July 6 for our next MUGport meeting (public invited) as we will hold a regular "in house" meeting instead of our usual outdoor, annual picnic this month. Our meeting theme will be "Photo, image manipulation tips" (which can be accomplished in many different image editing tools; some free, some commercial), presented by MUGport's own Creecher. Some of the tools we'll use for this presentation will include Adobe's Photoshop Elements and Apple's iPhoto '09. A few of the techniques will include merging photos into a single panorama image, and in iPhoto we'll briefly touch on Albums and Slideshows (new '09 themes, music, transfer to iDVD, etc.).
Even though there will be no picnic, refreshments will be served: delicious eclairs by Judy Cleveland, topped off with some soda. Of course we'll also have time for our regular Q&A. Hope to see you at the meeting -- and bring a friend!

A landmark event in MUGport history:
|
|
It was a typography feast worthy of kings and queens.
Fortunately for us, it was instead served up at a special MUGport event/meeting. It was a night when MUGport warmly welcomed 3 typography design specialists -- meisters, you might call them -- Alejandro Paul, Sigur∂ur Ármannsson and Patrick Griffin, all from different corners of the world, to the Oregon coast for a unique, rich blend of professional typography content, design and information.
Paul (Argentina), Armannsson (Iceland) and Griffin (Canada) took turns presenting and sharing their specialties to a packed house at MUGport's 2-hour meeting. It is as rare as a total eclipse that MUGport is honored to host experts like these from such distant regions. MUGport would like to thank all of our guests and visitors who joined our membership for this special evening. And to "type it off", following the presentations that evening, our 3 special guests and MUGport president Michael Lynch left the next morning to drive down the beautiful Oregon coastline via Highway 101 on the way to San Francisco and MacWorld Expo. MUGport, Newport and Oregon eagerly await a return visit from any or all of these special 3 type & mouse-keteers.

All 3 presenters shared a few of the tools they use in their work. |
For a full recap of this event, with more photos and details, please stay tuned -- we will include a post-event report from Michael upon his return from MacWorld Expo in S.F. MUGport members can also read more in the February issue of NEWSport. What a way to kick off the new year!

| MUGport and our community: Mac Shop NW and MUGport teamed up to donate a full Macintosh system and software to the Toledo Public Library. The story was published in the February issue of NEWSport (member publication) and in the Newport Times. |
