Almost 200 people attended the 2009 Adaptive Technology Fair at the JCC in Manhattan.
In a dedicated vendor area, attendees spoke with representatives from local A.T. assessment centers,
learning software companies, and communication device providers. In an adjoining room, three assistive technology workshops were presented:

3:30 – 4:00 • Advocating for Students with Technology Needs - Randi Levine, Advocates for Children
4:15 – 5:45 • Making Educational & Therapeutic Curriculum Accessible: The AAC Briefcase Network - Carol Goosens, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
6:00 – 6:30 • Software for Learning, Communication, Physical and Vision Needs: EI, Pre-K & Elementary School - Mark Surabian, MA, ATP

The Fair focus was primarily centered around the idea that early intervention, pre-school and primary grades need to develop assistive technology programs to be proactive in meeting students’ future needs. Because of the economy, the Fair was made free for parents and professionals to attend.

Sponsors included Time Warner, The JCC in Manhattan, The CogniTech Cafe, and Pace University
