Adaptive Technology Fair 2009
For Pre-K to 5th Grade Parents & Professionals

Sunday March 22nd 3:30 – 6:30
The JCC in Manhattan 334 Amsterdam @76th Street
New York City

The goal of this informative half-day assistive technology fair on March 22nd is to promote greater understanding of effective tool use and implementation. In a dedicated vendor area, attendees may speak with representatives from local A.T. assessment centers, learning software companies, communication device providers, and vision products suppliers. In an adjoining room, three assistive technology specialists will give consecutive presentations on the following topics promptly at these times:

3:30 – 4:00 • Rights to Accessible Educational Materials – Advocating for Students with Technology Needs
- Representative from Advocates for Children
4:15 – 5:45 • Making Educational & Therapeutic Curriculum Accessible: The AAC Briefcase Network
- Carol Goosens, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
6:00 – 6:30 • Software for Learning, Communication, Physical and Vision Needs: EI, Pre-K & Elementary School
- Mark Surabian, MA, ATP

Too often, assistive technology considerations are directed solely to the needs of older students; we intend to concentrate upon the needs of early intervention, pre-school and primary grades at this initial conference, and to foster greater support for the institutions that serve these populations. We also realize that conference fees are a challenge for professionals in this economy and are therefore offering free admission to this event. We encourage you to invite any of your staff or parents to attend, and if possible, pre-register for the conference.
