About this Website

Welcome to the Green Chopsticks Project website.

Hello: my name is David Strauch, and I'm the one that's been keeping up this website. I occasionally use "I" when discussing things I've done, primarily with the website, and I sometimes use "we," when I'm referring to the activities of the Green Chopsticks Project, which will have other people working on it. Putting this website together, along with some paper materials, has been the first step in putting together a project to address the issues raised by the conspicuous consumption of throwaway chopsticks.

I've organized the site in the following way:

  1. I've tried to collect as many articles and source materials relating to chopsticks and connected issues as I could, and made these available (within the limits of copywrite restrictions) in the Readings section. These readings are referenced throughout the site.
  2. Drawing on these source materials, I've summarized the principal problem, and the information about related issues.
  3. I've also collected information about the ways in which people are responding to the situation, particularly is Asia.
  4. Then some ideas and strategies for this project are sketched out.
  5. Additional information is provided by links, references and a glossary.

This site is still very much a work in progress; I am in the process of writing addtional pages about . You can check out the drafts, but don't expect much. If anyone has any information on these subjects, or feels like writing one up, please let me know.
