What You Can Do

The first thing to do is to stop throwing away chopsticks. The easiest way of doing this is to carry your own chopsticks with you. Bring a bag to put them in, and you can wash them when you get home later.

Even if you have a favorite pair with you, its always worth asking restaurants if they have reusable chopsticks. Its good to remind them that it is important to some of us. Always encourage the restaurants that do have them.

Carry a couple pairs of reusable chopsticks with you so if you go out to eat with other people they'll have some to use too. This might inspire them to get their own.

Take a bunch of reusable chopsticks with when you go on a picnic, rather than disposable ones. Its easy to throw them in a bag and wash them at home later.

One of the nicest ways of encouraging other people to switch to reusable chopsticks is to give them especially nice chopsticks. You can buy fancy ones or, even better, you can make your own and give them as gifts. Handmade chopsticks are lovely and will help inspire people to stop using disposable ones.
