Microsoft and Sun

It was in April 2004, more than a year ago, when the former arch-rivals Microsoft and Sun announced to the world that they settled their disputes and will cooperate over the next 10 years. Now, Microsoft and Sun are presenting their first results of this joint effort: New specs for single sign-on ID management cross platforms. The two companies also developed two draft specifications for web-based single sign-on processes. Just a beginning of a new, long-lasting friendship? I don't think so. ID Management was a necessity and most customers urged both companies to solve this issue. I would be surprised if Microsoft and Sun would take their cooperation to the next level.
